If you have enrolled on any of the following online courses then you will be enrolled on the RYA interactive learning portal to allow you to access the training material.

RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship

RYA Professional Practices and Responsibilities

RYA Safe and Fun 

After you book the course you will receive a separate email from us within two working days containing the web address for the interactive site, and your unique login details  with a temporary password.   You will be prompted to change the password to something memorable at your first login.  If you forget your password then please contact us to reset it.

You will find all the material online to complete the course, but if you have any difficulties or would like to ask questions then you can contact us using the details in the ‘help’ section on the Interactive site.

Please note that for the Essential Navigation and Seamanship course and the Professional Practices and Responsibilities courses you have two attempts at the final assessments.  If you fail two attempts then you will be unable to sit the assessment again and you will be told to contact is to reset it.  There is a fee of £15 charged by the RYA every time we reset it, so please ensure that you are confident with the material before your final attempt.

Online course literature

For any RYA online course that requires you to be sent additional literature to complete the course (Essential Navigation and Seamanship and Marine VHF), or if you purchase additional literature through our online shop then you will be sent this by Royal Mail.  Please allow 5 working days for this to arrive with you, and if you do not receive it within 7 working days of booking then please contact us for an update.

VHF Exam Candidates only

After you have completed your Online VHF Marine Radio course then you can sit the exam.  You may have selected a date for an exam at time of booking, but if not then please contact the centre to arrange this.  The examiner will meet you at the Edinburgh Marine Academy at the appointed time, which is usually at about 1600.

The exam consists of a 30 minute theory paper, and then a practical exam which is usually 30 mins per person.  For your exam please bring the following items to give/show the examiner:

Completed Exam application.  The exam application can be found here on the RYA website.  Please note that there is a fee of £60 which is payable directly to the RYA to cover the certification and exam costs incurred.  Please ensure that you print out the completed application form and bring with you.

DAY SKIPPER AND COASTAL SKIPPER THEORY ONLINE COURSES

The Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper Theory courses are delivered by our partner company Navathome.  When you book either of these courses through us we will set you up on the Navathome Interactive learning portal.

You will then receive an email from them giving you your log in details and more information about the online courses and how they are delivered.  They will also send out a literature pack to you by Royal Main recorded delivery, containing all the required learning material for the course.

If you have any questions about course content or exams then please contact Navathome for assistance and they will be on hand to help.  You have an initial six months to complete the course, but if you need an extension to the online learning material then you can contact them and they will extend for an additional 6 months.
