Youth Powerboat Cruising (11-15 years)

The Youth Powerboat Cruising course is designed for anyone who has completed the Youth Powerboat course and would like to to build on the skills learned and to start looking at navigating and managing a boat further afield.

The course is based around the adult RYA Intermediate Course, and will look at more advanced aspects of boat handling, navigating at speed, and planning short passages by day.  It will use our new training vessels, and be delivered in a fun and informative manner by our highly experienced Advanced instructors.

Course content includes: a recap on Level 2 manoeuvres and skills, rough weather handling, navigation techniques, responsibilities as a skipper, and passage planning.

Assumed Knowledge: RYA Youth Powerboat course to have been completed.
Course Duration: 2 day (0930-1700).
Age: 12-16 years old.  Please note that this course is to develop candidates skill level and is not certificated.
Course Content: Planning an day trip, boat preparation, pilotage, passage planning, rough weather handling.
Ability after the course: To be able to plan and execute short passages under the supervision of a competent adult.

Under 16s powerboating courses will be run in similar ages, using suitable vessels that aren't too heavy or difficult to handle.  To book an under 16 on a course, please select an under 16s specific course when booking. Under 16s courses will run during school holidays throughout the year.
