RYA Day Skipper

This four day course will give you the opportunity to undertake short passages  in familiar waters in a motor cruiser.  It includes boat handling and close quarter manoeuvres, navigation, and pilotage techniques and boat safety.

There will also be an emphasis on electronic navigation and use of radar, as well as an introduction to night cruising

Assumed Knowledge: 5 days on a motor cruiser, 100 miles at sea, and 4 night hours.  Navigation and Theory knowledge to be at the Day Skipper Theory levelVHF Radio and RYA First Aid are highly recommended for Day Skipper Candidates.
Course Duration: 4 days (generally 0930-1700, but with one late finish night passage).
Minimum age: 16.
Course Content: Preparation for sea, boat handling, navigation, pilotage, passage making, meteorology, rules of the road, engines, emergency situations, night cruising
Ability after the course: Able to skipper a motor cruiser in waters with which the student is familiar in daytime.

1:1 tuition available: For anyone who would like to reduce contact with other candidates or who would like to spend the course with an instructor specifically targeting their training requirements.  There is an additional fee for this and prices are not on the website, so please contact us for further details.
